Oil Production in Syria Reaches 100,000 Barrels Per Day with Expansion Plans

Oil production in Syria has reached a relatively stable level of around 100,000 barrels per day, according to official statements, with plans to increase oil production once challenges in the eastern Euphrates region are resolved, an area known for its significant hydrocarbon resources.

The Syrian energy minister said efforts are underway to create the right conditions to boost oil production and improve field efficiency, supporting the local economy and strengthening energy security amid growing demand for conventional energy sources.

Positive Outlook for Gas Output

In parallel, Syria’s Ministry of Oil expects natural gas production to rise to about 15 million cubic meters per day by the end of 2026, which could help narrow the energy gap and support industrial and service sectors.

Regional Energy Partnerships

As part of these efforts, the Syrian Petroleum Company signed cooperation agreements with four Saudi firms covering technical services, development, and production in oil and gas fields, under the supervision of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy and in line with memorandums of understanding signed in August 2025.

The agreements outline preliminary principles for developing and operating gas fields, forming the basis for final technical service contracts aimed at increasing output and enhancing operational efficiency.
